We were delighted to welcome Oxfordshire Community Foundation’s (OCF) Friends and volunteers to a drinks event to thank them for their support over the last year.

The sun was shining at our recent Summer Celebration event to show gratitude to our supporters who volunteer for OCF, or who are Friends. Our guests were treated to a delicious selection of canapés and drinks thanks to our generous hosts, Courtyard by Marriot hotel in Oxford city centre, where their rooftop terrace provided the perfect spot to celebrate, with beautiful views over Oxford’s skyline.

Friends support OCF by giving a regular donation each month or year. This helps us to carry out our core work: researching and consulting on local needs; administering our grant-making; reporting on impact; and ensuring good governance and financial management across our investments and fund distribution.

Volunteers are a vital part of OCF, either as trustees supporting our leadership and governance, or as grants assessors and panellists helping us to deliver our grant-making programmes.

On behalf of the Oxfordshire Lieutenancy, we were honoured to be joined by The Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Brian Buchan, who spoke about the vital role of chartable organisations and the important work that is done by so many volunteers across the county – without whom the charitable sector would be unrecognisable. Next, Ian Busby, Chair of Trustees at OCF gave thanks to long-standing Trustee and Chair of the Grants Panel, Anne Davies, who is stepping down after 10 year. We are all incredibly grateful for Anne’s commitment to OCF over the years – thank you Anne!

OCF’s Chief Executive, Zoe Sprigings then gave thanks to all of our Friends and volunteers whose support is vital in helping us to improve lives and tackle inequality throughout the county. Over the last year, with their help, we have been able to give out over £2 million in grants to 273 charitable organisations. Watch Zoe’s full speech
