After the great success of last year’s debate, OCF will hold another event at the Oxford Union on Tuesday 10th November, where we will explore why people spend more on beauty and the pursuit of perfection than on philanthropy.
Our Chair Anna Moon and Chief Executive Jayne Woodley were delighted to attend the swearing-in ceremony for the new High Sheriff of Oxfordshire Tom Birch Reynardson last night at Oxford Crown Court, where he announced a further collaboration with the community foundation.
OCF has awarded a large grant to Trax, an Oxford-based charity that provides training opportunities and counselling to disadvantaged and disengaged young people. The group, which specialises in bike refurbishment, is using the grant to create a social enterprise model that will allow them to be self-sufficient.

Community leaders from across Oxford have held a service uniting people from different faith traditions and none, led by OCF supporter Imam Monowar Hussain DL, whose named fund with the community foundation aims to build links across different groups.
Twenty local companies will be taking part in a charity choir this Thursday in support of Oxfordshire Community Foundation and other local charities. The firms are participating in the High Sheriff’s Challenge – an initiative of this year’s High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, Tony Stratton.
Meech International was one of 18 companies that volunteered a team of five competitors for ‘The Olympic Challenge’, a specially organised sports day on 17 July to raise charitable funds for the Oxfordshire High Sheriff’s Challenge.
The High Sheriff is buying some extra bottles of water in preparation for his Olympic Challenge at the Iffley Road Sports Ground on Thursday 17th July. The weather forecast is “HOT!”, so we’re expecting that by the end of the event some participants may look more exhausted than Roger Bannister did on that famous day 60 years ago!
Each year The Story Museum in Oxford run a special ‘Maggie’s Day’, in memory of Maggie Evans, which this year is happening on 8th July.
