Reciprocate responsible business group reaches 40 members

OCF’s new responsible business initiative Reciprocate now has 40 local companies signed up. The group of businesses are committed to collaborating to support the local community more effectively, taking a proactive approach to addressing social problems.

The businesses have signed up as members of Reciprocate because they want to realise their good intentions about charitable giving and community engagement through the power of many. Reciprocate is chaired by former High Sheriff and CPM Chairman Emeritus Tony Stratton, and has a steering group of 16 core members. The steering group has met once to determine the overall direction of the group, and there will be an inaugural event for members and interested businesses at the Ashmolean on Tuesday 15th March, sponsored by members Withy King and The Ashmolean.

In terms of what is planned for Reciprocate, the group’s activities fall into five categories:

1. Projects – proactive collaborative initiatives that address specific themes, eg affordable housing
2. Advice – including networking companies who have an idea but need the support of others or who aren’t sure where to start with community engagement
3. Signposting – directories of local charity sector contacts and links in to existing networks, eg ROBIN
4. Perks – development opportunities for members, the chance to see the county from a unique perspective, publicity and acknowledgement for the work already being done
5. Events – receptions, visits and forums giving members the opportunity to sign up to projects, learn from each other and be inspired by high-profile speakers
