Chartered Accountant Katy joins us with an experienced financial background, including roles at EY and Wenn Townsend. She will bring vital financial management to support the staff and trustees as OCF grows.
OCF is delighted to welcome Katy Smith to our small staff team. Katy will be working on a part-time basis covering all of OCF’s ever-increasing financial management needs, as the organisation continues to build on the recent record levels in grant-making and philanthropic donations. Katy’s role will involve the day-to-day financial accounts; undertaking research for any new projects or initiatives; and working up new financial models and scenarios to provide numbers for discussion and illustration.
After studying History at St Hilda’s College, Oxford, Katy qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Arthur Young (now EY) in 1986. She held various accounting positions in the City and elsewhere, including CIBC and Wenn Townsend, before going part time when her children were growing up.
Katy lives in Hampton Poyle and volunteers as a reading assistant in her local primary school, is learning Spanish and is an avid supporter of Oxford United FC. She replaces Laura Keen, who was working on a freelance basis for the charity. Laura is now focusing on her full-time role as Finance Director at Milton Keynes Community Foundation, and her voluntary position as a trustee of umbrella organisation UK Community Foundations.
Katy says: “I was particularly attracted to this role at OCF as I really believe in the work the community foundation is doing to support the place I live.”
