We are delighted to be sponsoring the volunteer category at this year’s OCVA Awards ceremony. The awards recognise the many individuals who give thousands of hours of their time to helping others in Oxfordshire.
The OCVA Charity and Volunteer Awards will take place on next Tuesday, 9th May in Oxford Town Hall. This prestigious event is held annually to celebrate charities, voluntary and community groups as well as not-for-profit local enterprise groups and non-statutory groups. The awards are presented by the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire in a glittering and uplifting ceremony. Video and photos of previous ceremonies can be found here.
OCF is sponsoring the individual awards, made to dozens of people who have contributed to their community by volunteering for one of the thousands of charities and community groups in Oxfordshire. OCF’s Chief Executive Jayne Woodley comments: “We have great pleasure in sponsoring this award, because we believe in the power of volunteers, and hope to inspire more people to get involved in the wonderful work being done by our local charities. Volunteering is one of the best ways for people to support their local community.”
The volunteer awards are especially appropriate to OCF this year, as we are currently piloting a new employee volunteering initiative through our responsible business group Reciprocate. The project is being delivered in collaboration with OCVA and will help local businesses understand what types of volunteering they can promote amongst their staff, and will broker appropriate opportunities for individuals or teams from participating companies. The focus will be on how businesses can offer the professional skills of their employees to help charities with key organisational challenges such as strategy, business development, finance or marketing.
