At this webinar we will explore the impact of the cost of living crisis on those local communities that were already disadvantaged and struggling, and understand the priorities of local charitable organisations as they face this next challenge.
The post-COVID world is looking difficult at the moment, with the perfect storm of the pandemic, Brexit and the war in Ukraine causing global price hikes. With inflation hitting 30-year highs and the prices of fuel, materials and services increasing by huge proportions, the cost of living crisis is hitting us all; but what is the effect on people’s lives in Oxfordshire?
The session will be hosted by Imam Monawar Hussain DL, an OCF trustee who has recently completed a year as High Sheriff of Oxfordshire. He will be joined by:
- Dr Mark Fransham, Senior Researcher at the Department for Social Policy and Intervention at the University of Oxford, who will give a presentation on the causes and effects of this global issue
- Teresa Archer, Chief Officer at Citizens Advice West Oxfordshire, who will give a view of how the crisis is affecting demand for advice on debt and benefits
- Fiona Steele, Director at Good Food Oxfordshire, who will talk about food poverty and how communities in Oxfordshire are affected.
Please join us for our first webinar of 2022. We will be running quarterly sessions on key topics throughout this year, following the success of our webinar series during the pandemic.
