David Munday, consultant and Deputy Director at Public Health Oxfordshire explained what was meant by health inequalities – the ‘unfair and avoidable differences’ in access to, experience of, and outcome from using health services.

David also looked at the local picture pre and post covid and how this has deepened existing inequalities. What decides the focus of Public Health and how their tiered approach to tackling inequalities works. Public Health Oxfordshire recognise the need to look at the root causes of health issues and this is why they work with the voluntary and community sector. They fund grants through OCF to local charitable organisations that are working in the communities they want to support.

He presented at the OCF webinar on 21st September 2022. A full recording of the webinar is available here.
