Nervous is the word used most by children from the villages when asked how they feel about moving to secondary school in September. “I just need people to be kind to me.” The Didcot Powerhouse Fund enabled a community support project for around 100 children and their families.
“Rose Hill Junior Youth Club provides meals to children who would otherwise go hungry, alongside weekly food packages, activities for families, pastoral and practical care. I love how all team members have a great rapport with all the children and seeing how each child is cared for, protected, loved and provided for, taking into account and working with all their abilities (or disabilities), genders, socio-economic backgrounds, religions and cultures.”
“This grant has made a difference by enabling us to regularly open our beautiful green community space for volunteers and visitors. For many, these outdoor opportunities for connection have been the only social space they have felt safe to enter and as such it has been a real life line for their well-being.”
“I can’t thank you enough for what you have done for me and my daughter. Watching her health decline over lockdown, her anxiety and depression increasing to the point where she was cutting herself, was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. Taking part in BOOST has changed our lives.”
“The Step Change Fund has transformed how we can work, enabling closer working relationships with other agencies, saving travel and administrative time, releasing funds to support staff training, and allowing us to increase the number of people we can support.”
“We love OCF – the application form is easy to use and the money is distributed quickly. Throughout the pandemic you have been our rock, providing useful webinars and funding when we needed it the most. Thank you.”
“The relationship with Nick worked really really well, and straight away he understood what we were trying to do and the third sector more generally. His support was really personalised, and it was really positive to have a face associated with the grant.”

“After a varied career managing and implementing innovation from chemicals to chocolate bars, I am now in the fortunate position of being able to choose what I want to dedicate my time to. I am now wanting to spend more of my time to benefit others in the community.”

“I volunteered for Step Change to help charities that are making changes to people’s lives. I believe I can support charities to reach their goals by encouraging them to think of their business strategies, set realistic targets, identify KPIs and achieve key milestones.”

“Prodrive’s commitment to the local community has always been a source of pride. Supporting the collective business fund means we are now also supporting unsung local charities that do essential work to alleviate disadvantage in our county.”
