As part of a 47 strong UK community foundation network, we are encouraging support for the local community foundations who are supporting those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. UK Community Foundations, alongside the community foundation networks of Poland, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Latvia, are in communication with, and stand in support of, our sister organisations in Ukraine.

Currently 20 of the 33 community foundations in Ukraine remain operational and are being assisted in country by ISAR Ednannia. These community foundations are now taking care of territorial defence. ISAR Ednannia, one of the largest Ukrainian NGOs, has established an Emergency Fund for civil society organisations all over Ukraine, including their community foundations.

Community foundations are uniquely placed to deliver support right in the very heart of communities worldwide. Their networks, local knowledge and funding can enable grassroots organisations to respond quickly to the precise needs of their communities. The community foundations of the surrounding countries are providing essential aid and support to refugees.

For those wishing to give from the UK, we recommend the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal as the most effective way to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.

Here is a summary list of appeals you can support, which have been verified by our network.
