Age Friendly Banbury has appointed a new dedicated co-ordinator, Bee Myson, who will work with the local community to drive forward local priorities across a network of businesses, charities and volunteers. OCF is a founder member of the Age Friendly Banbury partnership, which aims to make Banbury a great place to grow older.
The initial focus of the partnership is on older people, but the vision is of a ‘Banbury for all ages’ – a friendly and more accessible town for everyone. Following last year’s launch event, Age Friendly Banbury is strengthening its commitment to making Banbury become one of Britain’s first age-friendly towns.
The generous support of local businesses and other funders has enabled Age Friendly Banbury to appoint Bee as a new dedicated co-ordinator. Bee came into OCF and said, “I am really looking forward to working more closely with the OCF team to help Banbury become one of the first Age Friendly Towns in the UK. I hope to live up to my name and be an effective ‘cross-pollinator’ with all the partners involved! ”.
Bee has already been volunteering as part of the project, so will bring with her a wealth of experience which will allow her to work with the current and potential network to drive the initiatives forward. She will be based at Bodicote House in Banbury, hosted by Cherwell District Council. Councillor Andrew McHugh says, “With Bee’s current knowledge and experience working within this sector and having lived locally all her life, means she will be a massive asset to the Age Friendly Banbury partnership.”
