Each year The Story Museum in Oxford run a special ‘Maggie’s Day’, in memory of Maggie Evans, which this year is happening on 8th July.

In 2008, after a short but intense period of depression, Maggie, who was only 29 years old, took her own life. Her parents Bob and Kati and brother David set up the Maggie Evans Fund with OCF in her memory. The fund is used to help children discover interests that were Maggie’s own passions: a love of reading stories and appreciating illustrations, and the exploration of different cultures through languages and translation.

Three schools are participating in Maggie’s Day (around 180 children). In the run-up to the day, the children will take part in a cartoon workshop in school from The Story Museum’s artist-in-residence Neill Cameron.

Then on 8th July, the children will come to the museum to see the exhibition and to take part in a drawing and story-telling workshop around one of the characters in the exhibition.

We’ll be going to The Story Museum, Rochester House, 42 Pembroke St, Oxford OX1 1BP for what will be another marvellous occasion, please come and join us. The Story Museum celebrates story in all forms and explores their enduring power to teach and delight. Founded in 2003, The Story Museum began by taking stories and storytellers into schools and communities.
