Anne-Marie Cockburn chose to channel her love following the death of her daughter Martha on 20th July 2013, by publishing a book about the hours, days and months after this horrific event.

Anne-Marie’s story is an inspiring one of amazing courage. By sharing the raw emotion of her story, she has written a hugely impactful book that touches at the heart of what it is to be a mother. A new edition has just been published, and in it Anne-Marie calls for drugs to be legalised and regulated. You can read about it here.

At Martha’s inquest in Oxford in June Anne-Marie made her strongest call yet for senior politicians to enter into dialogue regarding fundamental reform of UK drug policy. After the inquest she invited Theresa May, Norman Baker and Yvette Cooper to “start a sensible dialogue for change, from prohibition to strict and responsible regulation of recreational drugs. This will help to safeguard our children and lead to a safer society for us all by putting doctors and pharmacists, not dealers, in control of drugs.”

Ten per cent of the proceeds from the sale of her book go towards Anne-Marie’s charitable fund, held and managed by Oxfordshire Community Foundation. You can help her achieve even more by making a donation to What Martha did next.

Anne-Marie has planned a public picnic to celebrate Martha’s life on Saturday 19th July at Hinksey Park – we do hope the sun will be shining.
