OCF recognises that many local businesses want to behave responsibly, but aren’t sure where to start or whether their initiatives are effective. To come up with a solution that will help companies do more for their community, we’re running a series of focus groups.

Former High Sheriff of Oxfordshire and seasoned businessman Tony Stratton will lead the focus groups, and collaborate with OCF on any resulting business initiative. Tony has already brought together a great range of leading local business during his Shrieval Year for his highly successful High Sheriff’s Challenge, which has raised over £118,000 for local charities.

Businesses like the High Sheriff’s Challenge companies realise that sound commercial benefits accrue from activities that improve the wellbeing of their local community. Yet, working hard to deliver value to their employees, customers and shareholders, they often lack the time and resource to determine how best to make a real difference.

To address this, OCF is running two focus groups with representatives from a network of like-minded companies. We want to hear what businesses are doing currently in relation to CSR and charitable giving; what they would like to achieve; and whether they would be interested in working more collaboratively to make a bigger difference to the local charitable sector. The focus groups are taking place as follows:

  • Wednesday 8th July 3.30–5.00 at Finders Keepers in Summertown, North Oxford
  • Monday 13th July 12.30–2.00 at Henmans Freeth in the Oxford Business Park

If you are an Oxfordshire-based business and are interested in attending one of the focus groups, or would like to be kept informed about what we are planning, please email Kate at marketing@oxfordshire.org.
