A new Home Office grant opportunity is offering up to £50,000 to charities working on projects that counter extremism and build stronger communities.

The Building a Stronger Britain Together (BSBT) programme offers two forms of support through a competitive bidding process:

Grants: targeted funding for specific projects with demonstrable outcomes which provide a positive alternative to extremist voices

In-kind support: such as social media training, technical assistance to help a group improve their website, or capacity-building work to help a group protect more vulnerable individuals.

You can apply for both in-kind support and grant funding. Grants are being managed by community foundations such as OCF across England and Wales.

PLEASE NOTE that the deadline for grants is 5pm on Monday 6 February 2017. There is a fixed amount of funding available and bids will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis.

It is also worth noting that the application form and Home Office processes are lengthy, and groups can only apply for up to 25% of their annual income, therefore very small groups may find it difficult to apply.

Full details and the link to an application form can be found on the Home Office website. If you have any queries about the grant fund please email help@bsbt.org.uk; if you have any queries about the in-kind support please email support@bsbt.org.uk.
